The so called recession has made many IT companies take some decisions such as sabbatical, increasing the training period etc. It also has made the parents of Engineers in waiting to take some decision. I am a Computer Science Engineer and wherever i go,some ask me a question or some try to make a statement, but all mean the same "IT field downame, nee enna panna pora".But the fact is that the recession affected the banking, insurance, mortage sectors in America. All the Indian IT companies have their client base mainly in America. Most of them belong to banking, insurance, mortage sectors. Also automobile firms were very badly bruised. As these clients are trounced by the recession, obviously the IT companies will run out of projects. Thus IT companies and outsourcing in india is badly affected.
Taking this into consideration and also large scale, sponsored brainwashing of the so called Carrier Consultant, Many parents are forcing their students to prefer branches other than CSE,IT. This is clearly reflected in the on going TamilNadu Engineering Counselling. On the first day Many preferred ECE, Mechanical,EEE. On the end of the day, there were seats remaining in some prestigious institutions in CSE, IT courses. Parents, Carrier Consultants, Students everybody are short sighted. When their wards complete their engineering courses, the recession would have positively come to an end. That time, IT secot may revive. During that happening, the same parents would repent for not taking the course.
Our educational system, society are to be blamed. Also the students, parents etc. Everyone considers education is the mode to obtain a job. They study only to clear the exams.
only very few 'study' their course properly. Obviosuly, the institutions dont offer much opputunity for research.
Also, the private engineering colleges collect lots of donations. This is a known fact and no visible, definite, decisive action has been taken, Two years back, many colleges and their so called trusts were raided and was found that they have collected donations and was caught red hadedly. But what happened?
Scrapping 10th standard examination will not and never be a panacea. Some serious and very decisive efforts has to be taken by HRD ministry to revamp the entire education system and the way a student is evaluated. Something has to be done to do away with the reservation system.(Matter of fact: In tamilNadu, there is 69% reservation which is higher than the 50% reservation limit set by Supreme Court)
