Globalization : from the perspective of an individual and a nation.

"when the world is flat, whatever can be done will be done. The only question is whether it will be done by you or to you."

This is a line from the book "The world is flat" by Mr.Thomas Friedman
Yes he is correct in every sense of it.In this very much globalized world, where anyone can talk,do business, collaborate with anyone in the world, anything is possible.Google made all the information available in the world to each desktop computer.Previously it was like you have to fight it out within your country. But now,as the playing field is levelled, you have to fight it out with chinese, japanese, americans.
India was opened to the world economy in 90's which has marked a beginning of a new order.India and china have started to emerge as the superpowers.Needless to say,China is the Frontrunner,it is very serious about its vision and mission. To remain in the fray,India have to be smarter. When i say smarter,i mean what i say.I feel the word "work hard" doesnt make sense in this flat world. It has to be "work smart".WORK SMARTER.

In the globalization era,you cant be dormant and settle for a government job or a job which is permanent. The days will come when the government jobs will move towards performance centric rather than no of years in office, productivity based rather than job assurance. When you need to survive in this flat world, you need to outsmart others. You need to think differently but smarter than others. As someone said working towards success makes u a master of it,but working towards satisfaction makes u a legend of it.One needs to constantly raise the bar everytime out in the field.once an individual knows what it takes to shine in the flat world, then he is up for a roller coaster ride.
The above is from an individuals perspective.
Thinking in terms of a state or a nation, government should empower the citizens with the tools to fight it out with the world in all the fields. In India, for that matter,in tamilnadu we have politicians, political parties that have no ideology at all. They rule for their family(kiths and kins),themselves, not for the innocent citizens who voted them to power. They spend their day to wage a political vendetta with the opposing politicians and parties, play the regional trumpcard, caste card everytime out there. They really dont think beyond their family and the thought of retaining the power.each and every party that captures power promises everyone with lots of sobs, freebies during their campaign.Freebies at the cost of taxpayers money.Ridiculous.We havent had a goverment which promised for a change, the change what Mr.Obama promised, the change that every indian or tamilian dream for,the change that catapulate the state and the country in full throttle. Also,we have a habit of blaming the politicians, the system in place.we keep talking about the problems in the state, country.we long for someone to change the order.

According to me thats foolish. You should be change that you envision. You should lead from front. You should bring the change. Its the duty and right of everyone.I am not asking to introduce anarchy.I am saying to dream and work towards the change with democratic values. The change has first to be in political terms as well. Its the duty of every citizen to work towards the betterment of his/her country.we should bring the change.Yes,we can!
